First snow of the winter

I’m sorry it’s taken me a week almost to post these pictures I took last weekend of a wonderful snowy walk we did with friends.

It’s been a busy time. I’m planning changes to the blog’s appearance (just a bit of a rebrand to reflect my new country life) and also working hard with Instant Pot on more pressure cooker recipes and videos. Not to mention my Channel Mum recipes (some cracking Christmas ones coming up soon!). So, yes, sorry I am a bit slow to post.

It was a perfect winter’s day, last Saturday. Freezing, but crisp and sunny, with just a smattering of snow. The white stuff lasted longer up high and was verging on deep on the tops. It made my soul sing trampling fresh footprints into fields that were completely untouched, bar the odd hoof print. Incredibly we didn’t see anyone hardly, aside from a few mountain bikers.

We were walking with friends from Manchester who we hadn’t seen for ages. What better way to catch up than a 7 miler which ended up in a cosy pub with a roaring fire. Literally the best day I’ve had for ages.

At the top we were so puffed out but you quickly forget about that as you take in the views of Ladybower reservoir. So grateful to live minutes from this view.

When walking, the downhill part is always something you’re desperate to get to but actually I find it harder than uphill sometimes. This is looking at Mam Tor, from the other side which faces Edale. What a memorable day. One that we’ll never have again; the first snowy day of the winter, 2015.
